The Biltmore Forest Country Club serves as the social center of the community, featuring a 135-acre Donald J. Ross golf course. It is short but challenging, with delightful rolling hills, a stream, and the “greatest Par-four on the PGA tour,” according to professional golfer Ben Hogan, who won the Land of Sky Open at Biltmore Forest in 1940 and 1942.

In 1916, a catastrophic flood in Asheville damaged the Biltmore Estate, necessitating its repair. To reduce tax liability and cover renovation costs, 1,500 acres were sold to make residential lots. This was formally chartered as the town of Biltmore Forest in 1923 and became a historic preservation district in 1990.
The small community of 1,343 features unique, stately properties in a range of styles, such as French Norman, English Manor, and Tudor, including those designed by architects William Waldo Dodge, Erle Stillwell, and Henry Irven Gaines.
